Abdel-Hafiz's close friend, Abbas Ibrahim, the BMI Accountant, tells
Abdel-Hafiz that Soliman Behairi, the BMI President and the BMI V.P. were
subpoenaed to appear before a Chicago Grand Jury.
Ibrahim, who has a pending FBI application at the
time, told Abdel-Hafiz the following:
|
1)
"Gamal, I think I'm in big trouble. We need to talk in private." |
|
2)
Ibrahim gave Abdel-Hafiz a piece of paper with instructions from
Behairi to wire large sums of money to an Islamic charity suspected
of funding Al Qaeda's bombings of the two U.S. embassies in Africa. |
|
3)
Ibrahim told Abdel Hafiz he "thought BMI helped pay for the (U.S.
Embassies) bombings." |
|
4)
Ibrahim tells Abdel-Hafiz, "I want the FBI to know I'm coming
forward to help. I am not part of anything. |
|
5) Ibrahim asked
Abdel-Hafiz if he should resign from BMI. Abdel-Hafiz told Ibrahim,
"To remain with his employment as long as he desires and there
should not be any reason to be alarmed." Additionally, he tells
Ibrahim to "Continue carrying out his duties as usual (at BMI). |
|
6)
Ibrahim told Abdel-Hafiz that Behairi knows the two of them are
friends and Behairi asked Ibrahim if he could arrange a meeting
between him (Behairi) and Abdel-Hafiz to discuss the Chicago FBI
investigation. |
|
7) Abdel-Hafiz
asked Agent Wright, "Would you like for me to meet with Behairi?"
Agent Wright replied, "Yes, I would like for you to meet with him.
We will have to record the meeting." Abdel-Hafiz agreed and the call
ended. |
|
8) Agent Wright
told the AUSA's about this development immediately after the phone
call with Abdel-Hafiz. Upon returning to the squad area, the
supervisor told Agent Wright to forget about the meeting between
Abdel-Hafiz and Behairi because, Abdel-Hafiz called Wright's
supervisor and said he did not want to meet with Behairi. |

FBIHQ Issues a Press Statement
to
ABC News
Aware FBIHQ was not successful during the telephone conference call with
Brian Ross the day before, FBIHQ issues a press release to ABC News on the
morning of the 19th.
This press release drafted by FBIHQ, falsely claims Chicago FBI Agents
requested Abdel-Hafiz conduct the recording with the terror target in a
Mosque, and that this is why Abdel-Hafiz refused to conduct the covert
recording in 1999.
Note 1: After reading
the FBI's press release, Agent Wright went directly to SAC Knier and told
him the Mosque statement was a lie, and if FBIHQ did not retract this lie,
he (Agent Wright) would go on live television to tell viewers the FBI was
lying to ABC News.
Note 2: The only place ever mentioned as a
possible place to record the conversation was a hotel room. At one point,
AUSA Flessner said, "If the issue is about you physically wearing a
recording device, we will get you a hotel room and bug the room so you will
not even know where the recording device is located within the hotel room."
To which Abdel-Hafiz replied, "I will still have to tell him (the terror
target) the room is bugged." |

FBI gives the same false press release it provided to ABC News on
12/19/2002, to the Saudi Government claiming Abdel-Hafiz was requested to
conduct the recording in a Chicago Mosque.
NOTICE: This version of the FBI Press Release goes
more in depth regarding the lie about the recording to take place in a
Mosque. This version of the Press Release, versus the one above on
12/19/2002, even claims the recording was to take place in a Chicago Mosque.
Such a request was NEVER made by Chicago agents. The only location ever
mentioned to conduct the recording, was a hotel room. |

SECURITY ADVISOR
DEMANDS NATIONAL GUN REGISTRY"
GAMAL ABDEL-HAFIZ , a controversial former FBI agent -- and current
consultant to the Obama administration on "countering violent extremism" --
is suggesting a national gun registry be created.
Gamal Abdel-Hafiz, born in Cairo, immigrated to the U.S. in 1990. He
recently retired from the FBI after 22 turbulent years at the bureau.
Following the Orlando Night Club attack, Abdel-Hafiz is calling for creating
a national gun registry. Such a registry would target millions of
law-abiding American citizens.
